Andertons Music Co is a very successful retail and e-commerce business specialising in contemporary music instruments. Established in 1964, the business is an industry leader and has won several awards. We have a large retail outlet in Guildford (where our offices are based) and a highly successful website. We have continued to grow over the past decade and currently have a staff of over 100 personnel.
The finance function is a small team, currently a Finance Manager and Accounts Assistant (AAT qualified) and due to continued growth, we are now looking to recruit a Part Time Finance Assistant to work closely with and report into the Finance Manager and you will also work with colleagues across the business.
The role is wide-ranging and would suit a candidate who is looking to get fully involved in all parts of the financial processes. With full integration with our EPOS system, the ideal candidate will be experienced in dealing with a system that is driven by a large amount of data flowing directly into the Accounts package.
A key part of the role will be utilising the current accounts package (Access Dimensions) to its full potential and analysing large volumes of data in Microsoft Excel and therefore a high level of IT literacy is a key requirement to be successful in this position.
Roles and Responsibilities Overview
The primary role of the Finance Assistant is to assist the Finance Manager with key reconciliations and reports, providing holiday cover for the department and take responsibility for a small credit control function.
The Finance Assistant will also learn all aspects of the purchase ledger function, daily cashing-up procedures, bank reconciliations, etc and work alongside the Accounts Assistant to enable a seamless, high quality service to the business during holiday and busy trading periods.
The ideal candidate will be highly organised and relish being involved in a dynamic business with an opportunity to shape the role and make a real difference. You will have at least 2-3 years relevant experience in an SME business ideally within retail or similar fast-paced, high volume business environment.
